All works from the Sea Pictures series are now available on the studio website and across all social media channels.
The photographs, produced on location in Normandy, present a succession of figures absorbed in an act whose object is withheld. By turning away from the face — the conventional site of portraiture and psychological access — the series foregrounds the act of looking itself as its primary content. Viewers find themselves watching someone watch, without access to what is seen, or whether anything is being seen at all. The simultaneous release of the series across networked platforms is consistent with the studio’s ongoing research into how images acquire and lose meaning through the conditions of their distribution and circulation.
